Welcome. I’m glad you’re here.

If you’ve found your way here, you’re already taking a positive step toward change. At With Therapy in Mind, I offer calm, evidence‑based hypnotherapy for anxiety, stress and confidence, supporting clients across Leicester and Leicestershire.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy offers a calm, supportive way to create meaningful change, especially if anxiety has been part of your everyday experience. In my practice, With Therapy in Mind, I guide you into a relaxed, focused state — similar to drifting into a daydream — where your mind becomes more open to gentle, positive shifts. This space allows you to explore and release thoughts, habits or emotional patterns that may have felt stuck for a long time.

As a hypnotherapist working across Leicester and Leicestershire, I’m here to support you at your pace, ensuring you stay fully in control at all times. You can speak, move and choose what feels right for you throughout every session. Hypnotherapy isn’t about giving up control; it’s about creating room to reconnect with what helps you feel grounded, capable and more at ease.

Many people I work with describe their sessions as soothing, steadying and surprisingly empowering. Whether you’re managing anxiety, rebuilding confidence or wanting to feel more settled day‑to‑day, I offer hypnotherapy in Leicester and Leicestershire in a way that feels calm, manageable and aligned with who you are.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to reach out by sending me an email at emily@withtherapyinmind.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Hypnotherapy uses a natural, focused state of awareness (sometimes called hypnosis or trance) to help you make positive changes. In this relaxed state, you’re more open to helpful suggestions and can explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviours with greater ease. It’s a gentle way to work with the part of your mind that influences habits, emotions, and patterns, so you can move toward the changes you want to make.

Yes. Hypnotherapy is a safe, non-invasive practice. It’s a natural, relaxed state of mind that people have been using for centuries to support emotional wellbeing and positive change. You’re always in control during a session, and the process is gentle, collaborative, and designed with your comfort in mind.

Very. A meta-analysis in the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis found that hypnosis is a highly effective intervention for anxiety, often providing faster results than traditional methods by addressing the root subconscious triggers.

Hypnotherapy can support you with a wide range of challenges. People often use it to ease anxiety, lift low mood, break unhelpful habits, or overcome phobias. It can also be helpful for things like weight management, improving sleep, reducing stress, and building confidence in different areas of life. Everyone’s goals are different, and hypnotherapy is flexible enough to meet you where you are. If you’re not sure whether it can help with something you’re experiencing, just reach out and ask me. I'm happy to answer any questions.

Not at all. That’s one of the biggest myths about hypnosis, and it usually comes from what people see in films or stage shows. In a therapeutic setting, you’re completely in control the whole time. Think of hypnotherapy more like a deeply relaxed, focused state where your mind is open to positive suggestions, not a place where anyone can make you do something you don’t want to do. You can talk, move, open your eyes, or stop the session whenever you like. Hypnotherapy simply helps you access the part of your mind where habits and emotions are stored, so you can make changes that actually stick. It’s a gentle, collaborative process designed to support you, not control you.

It really varies from person to person and depends on what you’d like support with. Everyone works at their own pace, and that’s completely okay. As a general guide, most clients find they can work through common issues in around 3–5 sessions. Some people need fewer, some prefer a little longer. What matters most is finding the right rhythm for you.
